Norbert Michelisz was awarded the Fans’ Choice Trophy at the 2011 Sport Stars’ Gala in Budapest. The first ever Hungarian world championship race-winner received the maiden Fans’ Choice award which is his third award that marks the undoubted support surrounding him in Hungary.

Fans are standing as one man behind Norbert Michelisz who was awarded with the Fans’ Choice award at the Sport Stars’ Gala held in Budapest on Monday night. It is the first time that this category was scheduled but it was not the first occasion when the Michelisz fans expressed their support. A few weeks ago the 27 year-old was elected as the Man of the Year in Baranya County.

“Yesterday’s Fans’ Choice is an unbelievable honor,” wrote Michelisz in his short Facebook post. “This trophy belongs to you, too. Thank you!”

The first ever Hungarian world championship race winner was voted among many respected sports personality in an email election. According to the statistics, Michelisz has been the third most popular active Hungarian sportsman since summer 2011 and a generally positive atmosphere is noticeable around the 27 year-old.

The Zengő Dension Team driver received his award from Zsolt Gyulay, President of Hungaroring Sport Zrt. with a symbolic meaning as Michelisz reached one of his most important career milestones at the Hungaroring where an approx. 50 000 people celebrated the second place he claimed at the 2011 Race of Hungary with his BMW 320 TC. At the end of the season he was awarded with the Race Driver of the Year trophy by the Circuit racing committee of the Hungarian National Autosport Federation (MNASZ).

In 2012, Hungarian fans elevated Norbert Michelisz as the community around him regularly expressed their support for the 27 year-old driver. There was hardly any European race in 2011 without the most dedicated fans and while the Hungarian driver was bound for the Far-East, he was voted to become the Man of the Year in Baranya County.
